This course is ideal to teach anyone interested in wayfinding design or someone who has to manage a location such as a hospital, tourist attraction, museum, airport in terms of how people are able to find their way. Wayfinding is a sizeable industry with safety, user experience (UX) and crowd control all directly related to this subject area. This is also useful for those new to wayfinding such as graphic designers and architects, in order to understand how design ties into wayfinding and vice versa.

Course Outline and Objectives

This overall goal of this training programme is to provide participants with a solid understanding of the wayfinding basics.

At the end of the course, participants should be able to:

✔  Understand what wayfinding is, its importance and how it is used in different environments.

✔  Appreciate design basics in accordance with wayfinding.

✔  Understand key requirements in wayfinding (including catering to all user types).

✔  Have a clear appreciation for key challenges and issues that need to be catered for in wayfinding.

✔  How to plan a wayfinding audit.

✔  How to evaluate an existing location and create a wayfinding strategy.

Delivery Method

A the trainer you will have access to full training materials including an set of 85 PowerPoint slides will full tutor notes for each slide, that you enable you to teach the main theory surrounding wayfinding. A number of activities are built into the training package and these enable group interaction to take place and participants to discuss wayfinding issues and to be mentally engaged in the training process.
